IMMIGRATION EVALUATIONS
What is a mental health immigration evaluation?
An immigration mental health evaluation is an evaluation that is used to help immigration courts determine if a person can legally remain in the United States. An immigration assessment begins by talking to your attorney. If an attorney recommends that you and/or your family members should complete an evaluation, we will collect any relevant information about your case, along with any specific legal issues. The immigration assessment includes questions about but is not limited to: your current immigration status, your personal and family history, your work history, and any medical or psychiatric history that may be relevant.

Types of Evaluations
We provide the following types of evaluations to be presented to the attorneys representing immigration cases, including the following types:

VAWA

Hardship Waivers

Cancellation of Removal

Asylum
Our evaluations include:

A client interview (2-4 hours) to obtain personal information and a detailed interview. The appointment can be in our offices or remotely through a video call.

Detailed written report including:
-
Psychosocial history
-
Result of tests and applied tests
-
Diagnostic impression
-

Mental health service planning if necessary.

Administration of psychological tests and questionnaires, scoring and interpretation. (A minimum of 5 tests will be conducted)

Communication via email/fax/telephone with the law firm.

Changes suggested by the attorneys regarding the writing of the report according to the standards and requirements of the immigration laws.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO BEFORE REQUESTING AN EVALUATION?

Talk to an attorney to see if there is a need for an evaluation.

If the lawyer recommends that you obtain an evaluation, you should ask for a document that describes exactly the type of evaluation, depending on the Visa for which you are applying.

Make an initial appointment and provide relevant supporting documentation.

The assessment DOES NOT guarantee you will obtain a VISA or a permit to stay in the United States.

The evaluation has a cost that must be paid directly by the client. It is not covered by health insurance.
