Daniela Peterson, MA, LPC
Daniela Peterson is the founder of VISTA COUNSELING. She lives in the beautiful town of Jackson,Wyoming and has been providing mental health services locally for the past 13 years in both through her work with different agencies and in her private practice.
She graduated in 2005 with honors from Universidad Bolivariana in Chile (her home country) with a degree of clinical psychology. When she moved to the US she was given the equivalency of a Master in Psychology, which allowed her to provide mental health services as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Daniela is fully bilingual and provides services in both English and Spanish.
Daniela has an extensive background in the fields of addiction, domestic violence, and trauma. She is an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) provider helping children and adults with past traumatic experiences in conjunction with different therapeutic approaches including CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), humanistic/person-centered counseling, and mindfulness coaching.
Throughout the years of work in the state of Wyoming, Daniela has received several awards in the counseling field. In 2007 Daniela was given the Starfish Thrower Award from the Wyoming Department of Health, for creating the first Spanish speaking substance abuse outpatient treatment program in the State of Wyoming and in 2014 Daniela was recognized by the Division of Victims of the State of Wyoming for her outstanding work with victims of abuse.
Joy Surdam, Ph.D Psychologist
Dr. Surdam lived most of her life in the town of Laramie, Wyoming, where she pursued her career in the field of psychology, until relocating to Jackson with her husband five years ago. Dr. Surdam has over 30 years of experience in the mental health field in both private practice and as a college professor. She has an extensive education background, which includes a Master’s degree in Spanish, a Master in Political Science, and a Ph.D in Counseling Education, from the University of Wyoming.
Dr. Surdam is bilingual (English and Spanish) with a Multicultural training. Dr. Surdam’s areas of expertise include working with couples, families, and seniors. Her therapeutic approaches include Humanistic/Person-centered, family counseling, cross-cultural counseling, mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Lenka Cervenanova, MS, LPC
Lenka was born in Slovakia into a family with healthy and diverse interests. She moved to Jackson, Wyoming over fifteen years ago and has committed herself to the health of her community. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Phoenix and furthered her studies with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling at Capella University. Lenka's practice focuses on offering parenting consultations, child therapy, group and family sessions. Lenka is an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) provider trained by the EMDR International Institute, helping children and adults with past traumatic experiences. Her personalized and individualized methods incorporate an empathic, practical, playful, and relational approach to psychotherapy with clients and their families. Lenka incorporates therapeutic approaches including dialectical-Behavioral therapy, play therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy.
Jose Rivas, MS, PPC
Jose was born in Mexico and immigrated with his family to the US. Jose was raised in Gillette, Wyoming and relocated to Laramie to complete his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Latina/o Studies. He then completed a Master's program in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Wyoming. The University of Wyoming awarded Jose with the Tobin Award as an Outstanding Graduating Senior. He also received the Willena Stanford Commitment to Diversity Award for demonstrating a commitment to enhance and support diversity and equal educational opportunities for all students at the University of Wyoming. Jose works full time for the Teton County School District as a School Counselor, and after his work at school he provides individual and group therapy sessions at our practice.
Nicholl Olivares-Rodriguez, MA, PPC
Nicholl was born and raised in Chile. A few months ago she moved to Jackson with her husband and their child to be closer to her family, who have been long time residents of our beautiful community of Jackson, WY. Nicholl has a degree in psychology from the University Arts and Social Sciences ARCIS from Chile, a diploma in clinical adolescent psychology from the Universidad del Desarrollo from Chile, and a Master’s degree in mental health, childhood and adolescence clinic, from the University of Leon, Spain. Nicholl is also EMDR trained by the EMDR International Institute. She has worked as a clinical psychologist in Chile for 9 years, addressing mental health disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. Here in the U.S., Nicholl was granted a Provisional Professional Counseling license by the state of Wyoming. Her previous work experience and amazing abilities to approach the client's needs make her a great addition to VISTA COUNSELING as she is also able to support the clients in need in their native language, Spanish. Nicholl specializes in treating trauma and mood disorders in children and adolescents.
Anahi Morillon, MSW, PCSW
Anahi was born in Mexico and immigrated with her family to Jackson, WY. Anahi spent her childhood in Jackson until she moved to Laramie to pursue a Bachelor’s and later a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Wyoming. There she volunteered with Juntos, Forward Wyoming, Better Wyoming, ACLU Wyoming, and founded Forward Wyoming UW. Anahi was featured in the Presidents Honor Role list for academic excellence for the duration of the undergraduate and graduate Social Work program. Growing up in Jackson, has given Anahi the passion to help immigrants with their mental health and become productive members of the community. “Jackson has given me many opportunities; I would like to give back to the community.” Currently, Anahi works fulltime with VISTA COUNSELING as a bilingual and bicultural provisional counselor (PCSW) focused in individual and family therapy.
Blanca Moye, Life Coach
Blanca is a certified life coach and parenting classes educator, and in 2017 she became a holistic coach because her area of experience is addressing the holistic well-being of people. She has an extensive background in child development due to her work with children and families during the past 15 years working for a federal program. She is also employed by Gear Up at Central Wyoming College supporting the high school students with college preparation. Blanca is our intensive day treatment program and group therapist assistant. She has great skills to support our team of therapists to better serve our clients. Blanca is highly involved in our community and has a great passion to support those in need.
Meliza Wetzler, MS
Meliza is our bilingual office/case manager. She focused on her Spanish learning during a Peace Corps Masters International program through the University of New Mexico. She was a Peace Corps volunteer in Kuna Yala, Panamá, as a culmination of her Master's degree. Upon moving to Jackson in 2007, she began her work with El Puente a former local medical interpretation agency. Meliza now works with La Voz & has been dedicated to our Latino community for over a decade. Meliza’s job includes supporting our staff and clients with administrative needs, including English/Spanish interpretation between our clients and our English speaking therapist. She also supports our clients with the process of enrollment and renewal with Medicaid and Kid Care CHIP. While in her case management duties, Meliza serves as liaison between our clients and agencies of the community, ensuring that the overall needs of our clients and their families are met. Her charisma and compassion for our served population will ensure that you feel fully supported while working with her.
